A Barbarian that ultilizes Howl, Double Throw, and Frenzy to dispatch foes from afar. He uses Howl/Grim Ward to keep enemies away while he pummels them with thrown weapons. He laughs when other Barbs die to the dreaded Iron Maiden, and he keeps on killing. With items like the Lacerator and Atma's Scarab, not even Physical Immunes can stand in his way. Enjoy.
SKILLS
Combat Masteries:
20 Throwing Mastery - More Damage, Attack Rating, and Chance of Deadly Strike for Throwing Weapons.
1 Increased Stamina
1 Increased Speed - Good for getting distance between you and the enemy.
1 Iron Skin
1 Natural Resistance - More resists is always good.
Combat Skills:
20 Double Throw - Your main skill.
20 Double Swing - Adds damage to Double Throw.
1 Leap - Good for moving around the battle field. (Ex. Escape route if swarmed.)
1 Frenzy - Use this a few times b4 you start throwing to really increase your throwing speed. Also, use this if your weapons break, and you're wait for them to replenish.
Warcries:
20 Battle Orders - More life and mana.
1 Battle Command - +1 All Skills.
Leftovers:
Howl - Great to break up crowds when you're being surrounded.
Grim Ward - Also great to break up crowds, but you need a corpse (not hard to get...hehe).
Frenzy/Axe Mastery* - If you go this route, I suggest a combination of these 2 b/c throwing mastery only effects your throwing weapons if they are thrown, so you'll need axe mastery for damage. Also Axe Mastery doesnt increase your throwing axes' damage when they are thrown. You'll want these to have a good alternate attack if your weapons break, and you're waiting for them to replenish.
*Axe Mastery raises your damage and AR more than Frenzy will, so you might want to just add to Axe Mastery
if your satisfied with the IAS from Frenzy.
STATS
Strength - Just enough for equipment, no more.
Dexterity - Enough for equipment, then more for Attack Rating and Damage if you want.
Vitality - Rest of your points go here.
Energy - None.
EQUIPMENT (These pieces of equipment are the best that can be obtained, and remember the follow equip isnt required.)
Weapon Choices:
Lacerator* - 33% Chance to Cast Amplify Damage! Must have for any Throw Barbarian.
Warshrike* - 50% Pierce and 50% Deadly Strike!
Gimmershred - Huge amount of elemental damage, great for Physical Immunes.
Warcries Javelin/Call to Arms - Boosts your Battle Orders.
*Ethereal Lacerator and Warshrike do alot more damage, but you gotta waste alot of your time waiting for your weapons to repair themselves.
Weapon Combinations:
Lacerator + Lacerator - Lacerators do the most damage, and more chance for Amplify Damage for even more damage.
Lacerator + Warshrike - Still have Amplify Damage, plus Warshrike pierces 50% of the time, and has 50% chance to do Deadly Strike on top of Amplify Damage.
Lacerator + Gimmershred - Good Physical Damage from Lacerator and Amplify Damage; Good Elemental Damage from Gimmershred. Good all around combo.
Gimmershred + Gimmershred - Use this if you come upon a Physical Immune.
Personal Recommendations:
Lacerator + Lacerator - Main Weapon.
Gimmershred + Gimmershred - Weapon Switch.
Warcries Javelin + Warcries Javelin - Lower boost to Battle Orders, but a lot cheaper.
Armor:
Fortitude" Armor - Best armor for a Throw Barbarian; %ED, Resists, and Life.
"Treachery" Armor - IAS, FHR, Venom, and Fade (Resists and DR).
"Chains of Honor" Armor - Great for Resists.
Helmets:
Arreat's Face - THE best Barbarian helmet hands down. Socket with Um Rune, Resist Jewel, or Ias/Resist Jewel.
"Delirium" Helmet - Great helmet for crowd control; Try to make in a helm with mods like +BO, +Throwing Mastery, and +Axe Mastery.
Belts:
Razortail - 33% Pierce best belt for any non-caster, ranged character, IMO.
Verdungo's Hearty Coil - Damage Reduction, Life, and FHR. Another great belt.
Gloves:
"Hit Power" Crafted Gloves - Knockback; great for ranged combat, especially if they have 20% IAS. Also try and get life/mana leech, Strength/Dexterity, and Resists.
Lavagout - 20% IAS.
Bloodfist - 10% IAS, FHR, Life. Great cheap gloves.
Clewglaw's Pincher - Knockback, and Slows Target.
Boots:
Rare Boots - Try to get FRW, FHR, Strength/Dexterity, and Resists.
Waterwalks - Dexterity and Life. Good for ranged characters.
Sandstorm Trek - Strength, Vitality, FHR, and Poison Resist.
Gorerider - Open Wounds, Crushing Blow, Deadly Strike. Good combat boots.
Jewelry:
Highlord's Wrath - Skills, IAS, and Deadly Strike. Good Ammy.
The Cat's Eye - IAS, FRW, Dex, and Defense.
Atma's Scarab - Chance to cast Amplify Damage helps remove PIs.
Raven Frost - Cannot be frozen, Dexterity, and cold Damage. Must have.
Bul-Kathos Wedding Band - Skills, Life leech, Life. Nice Ring.
Angelic Ammy/Rings - If you need AR this is the way to go.
MERCENARY
I would suggest a melee merc that can tank and hold off enemies while you attack from afar.
Might or Freeze Desert Merc
Weapon:
Doom Cryptic Axe - Use with Might Merc if you can afford.
Hone Sundan - Great for customizing with 3 sockets. Also the 45% Crushing Blow takes down enemies pretty quick.
Armor:
"Fortitude" Armor - %ED, Resists, and Life.
"Chains of Honor" Armor - Huge Resist.
"Duress" Armor - Resist, Cold Damage, Crushing Blow.
"Smoke" Armor - Good Resists.
Helm:
Delerium - Confuse keeps enemies back.
Guillaumes Face - 35% Crushing Blow.
PvM STRATEGY
Step 1 - Battle Command, Battle Orders, and Shout.
Step 2 - Use Frenzy a few times to get your attack speed up.
Step 3 - Run back to get some distance between you and the enemy OR use Howl or Grim Ward to spread them out.
Step 4 - Start throwing like crazy. If 1 or 2 enemies get close use Frenzy to keep your attack speed up. If a lot of enemies start swarming you the use Howl or Grim Ward again.
