So Lefty how is the strategy guide section going to look. I noticed it is organized by class already, but with-in the topics how is it going to be sorted?
I think we should have a rating system connected to the guides, so users can rate the guides and they would then sort by Highest Rated to Lowest, or even have a dropdown for organzing how you wish, such as, newest to oldest, most ratings, highest ratings, etc.. #2Posted 02 May 2012 - 10:46 AM
We're still finalising how the strategy section and forums are going to look.
A rating system would leave all the highest rated guides at the top, naturally, but leaving newer but perfectly good guides to languish at the bottom unnoticed. ![]() Feel free to add me on Xbox Live, my GT is Giggsidan. It seems like a lot of sites do really well with a rating system. Sure, new guides won't necessarily be at the very top of page, but I would assume that a lot of people enjoy looking at new guides and rating them accordingly. Also, with a rating system, people who aren't signed up on the forum can easily access the most popular guides. This (if I understand Google Analytics correctly) would help DiabloRealm come up higher on Google when people are looking for class specific guides, which will increase traffic and new members.

Which is why I also mentioned a dropdown to sort the available guides by different methods. Alphabetically, Highest Rated, Most Ratings, Newest, Etc.. #5Posted 02 May 2012 - 05:07 PM
The new forum does have something like that. At the moment it includes sorting by start date, most replies, most views, and most recently updated. There's also a custom sorting tab.

Although A Rating system would definitly help. Just add a rating system with the ability to sort by a bunch of different methods. Personally I think is the ideal way to run it. For example. http://www.mobafire....-legends/browse I used to use this site alot when I started league, and I found being able to sort to find a guide that appealed best to me was extremely helpful. Also the fact that the guides were rated helped ALOT, We could even have say a group of people that consistantly check all new guides posted to rate them properly based more around how well the guide works than how well the guide is written. At least this way when these select people get to them, the guides will have a proper rating fromt he start for people that want to follow a guide for their build. Of course anyone can rate it, but the quicker a guide gets a ratign the more attention it will get based on how well it's rated. I've seen many guides on Mobafire that only provide the most basic information yet work extremely well, and then I've seen guides that are written extremely well that don't really work very well. #8Posted 03 May 2012 - 05:07 PM
The site already has a topic rating system. You should see a rating selection at the top of each thread (let me know if you don't see it, it may be a setting I have to enable for regular members to see it). I don't however see a way to sort by rating, at least not out of the box. For strategy content, in addition to the posts in the forums, I will be creating a strategy content section of the site. The strategy content section is separate from the forums, but still tied together with them tightly. It will allow for the ability to do more than what a forum allows and also will allow us to organize the content better. I will post more about this when the details are finalize (which should be pretty soon).

Yes I see the star ratings. I was unsure if the strategy section would also have that. Don't get me wrong I'm sure whatever system you chose to go by will work fine. I know when it was simply forum threads that the good ones would get stickied worked fine. I'm just thinking more of a User Friendly and convient options.
ust throwing ideas out there. I want this place to Boom like it used to :) #10Posted 04 May 2012 - 08:27 AM
the community is good. if the content is good people will come here in droves. everyone who stuck around isnt an asshole and has at least an above average knowledge of how to effectively build a character.
i just googled diablo however, and we werent in the first 5 pages, my ex's dad told me how getting shit up the google charts works, but i dont remember all of it. if we can get in the first few pages when someone googles d3 or just diablo (theres like 5 cities named diablo, 3 metal bands, and a few other companies) traffic should increase. the only downside to larger communities is that shit gets dumbed down to an extreme, and anyone who dissagrees with the overwhelming opinion just gets ridiculed (see reddit for an example) #11Posted 04 May 2012 - 01:56 PM
