Essentially just me and my mates use this. They have admin access, so if you need help with something, just let them know. I will get to work on getting mods/senior members some vent accounts
for moderation. Enjoy.

I also have a typefrag account which I was using for WoW awhile ago. I was planning on cancelling it but I can either relaunch it (assuming the AUS hosting is an issue) or just transfer funds to Ben so we can get a larger capacity server.

I have about 250 ping in Ben's server. If any of you guys see worse or it impacts your communication while in the heat of battle, post here and we'll go devour another vent(typefrag) server.

I was on ben's and sitting around 280 myself. That could prove problematic, as awesome and hilarious it would be to listen to aussies raz each other.

I just realized that there are two different Ventrillo servers set up for the site. Which are we claiming to be the official one? (Probably best just to have one)

The delay in transmission/reception (not sure which it is...prolly both) in vent (im sure everyone knows what Im talking about by now) make playing this game tactically almost impossible, unless you can play off of the other heros in the game without voice comm already. Lets be honest few watch the map in a heated battle even if they're the only ones in that fight. Excited shouts of "Theres a treasure goblin (or whatever the name is)" , or "dont go down there theres 2 packs of rare mobs" or "everyone group around me for a heal" arent heard for sometimes up to 15 sec+. Forget about synchronizing buffs/debuffs. We'll see how it works out in inferno. Its still fun to talk with you guys. However planning strategy, besides before a battle, is IMHO almost pointless.

Most of the time you seem to be fine ched, although last night you were hearing us like 10 seconds later which was quite annoying! I know it wasn't your fault, though. I'll see if I can find out what causes it.

Maybe having your mic broadcasting 24/7 doesn't help? Try push to talk, lulz. If you have enough buttons to play D3 off your mouse, what's one more?

Makes zero sense that you can skype fine but lag in vent. Could be a codec issue, any idea what codec Killen's server is running?

My lowest personal ping times of the four clients polled have been through Mumble. It's free and the least resource intensive too. Maybe give that a shot. Although, I hear TS3 is boss these days... I only used it up through TS2 though.

Well the one we've been using I do not own.

But I'm sure we could definitly make it our "official" vent. Would simply be a matter of Lefty having a chat with "THIS" Guy.

Vents delay varies between all people. id suck it up if it was just me Dan but the prob is it wasnt just me ceiving/transmittig with delay. You were, killen was, with was, and multiple ppl heard the delay from more than just me.

If you hear your own voice thru your headphones, or hear someone echo, the "connection" between you and that receiver is not ideal, sometimes theres a third receiver that didnt "hear" you the first time...even more delay. Some delay is unavoidable. 5+ should be corrected.

The issue is most noticeable when someone uses speakers and not headphones unless the mic is very sensitive. The biggest annoyance is sometimes there is no delay..so it CAN get better. Question is how.

Broadcasting constantly or not would not effect anything, its a "you have comm or youy dont" type deal, unless I had a shit upload rate. I can upload up to 7mbs a sec. Currently tested at 3Mbs during a pretty severe thunderstorm over my wifi network.

Id love to have push to talk. I have a normal mouse though so all my skills on the hot bar take up all the keys. If youd like to lend me a hand or finger everytime I need to hit the push to talk that'd be lovely ;) otherwise I only have one good hand. You havent been in vent when im trying to shift click something? ROFL is that frustrating.

I do use sensitivity. however one setting lower and my voice is not picked up :( I mumble alot. and have a deeper voice. I could get a better mic/drivers.

Other than vent sucking ass, which is just an opinion, this is the most likely case. Killen?

Another completely plausible,admittadly stretching, cause is network throttling. Every ISP does it whether they admit to it/know it or not. Tis a natural effect on any electrical circuit. from the low freq signal powering your plug in fan to the rf signal generated by cable companies and transmitted over satelitte. Our isps may be throttling intentionally and not because of shitty enigineering.

Vent may also be coded to take a back seat when any other loads stress your comp's ability...i dont know.

Tons of variables. Tis the problem when dealing with anything you cant control.
