I've never seen this movie, but regarding the plane part, da faq? Why doesn't this guy just pull up and save him self 2 minutes of dodging flying trains?

That's not how planes work. If he had enough speed to take off the runway instead of having it collapse out from under him (you can see the pilot say "Aw screw it"and jerk back on the yoke.), albeit, barely, there's still no way he'd need minutes of train dodging while picking up speed with the engines at 100%.

Over-analyzing a bad movie, I know.
