Introduction In recent times i've seen quite a few "I need help with ubers" threads. Now since rep has come up with a low budget sorc guide i think i'll make a low budget smiter to go with it. This build is very affordable.

Skills/Stats
In this section of the guide i will introduce what skills and stats need to be used to reach the highest level of efficiency.

Skills
Max smite! This is your main attack and your very good friend.

Max holy shield! This also is your friend helping you greatly to get holy sheidl and a massive damage booster.

Max fanitism! Speed + damage. Key essentials for this build

Now after this your build is obviously done at quite an early level. Personally I would go with...

Maxing defiance! For extra defence and if you do decide to attempt to duel with this guy gives you more defence to help you handle melee characters better.

You may be saying why not salvation? The reason is we are going to use treachory to get fade before we attempt ubers. With this you can completely negate mephs conviction and then some!

Stats
Strength: Enough to use gear. Your highest item will be gaurdian angel which comes in at 118 strength.

Dex: If you go with silence phase blade your gonna have massive dex. So try to put just enough to use it. If you have to go black use just enough to get max block.

Vitality (aka life): As much as you possibly can.

Energy (aka mana): none. Your melee so you do not require alot of mana. Base is fine here.

Items
In this section i will reccomend you the items that i think fit this build best on a low budget. If there is alot of uproar i can always add a middle class and high class gear section.

Helmet: Kiras gaurdian. This is a fairly cheap helmet on both nonladder and ladder.
Choice #2: Guillames. Nice mods. Great helm for a pvm smiter.
Choice #3: Vampire gaze- Massive dr. Its a shame ll doesnt work.

Armor: Guardian angel templar coat. Also cheap on both nonladder and ladder. Gives extra block and sexy resists.
To go with this have in your stash a treachory runeword armor. Easily made runeword and gives you fade. Fade = resist and dr. Frined :)
Choice #2: Shaftstop mesh armor. Life dr decent defence.

Weapon: Silence phase blade is your best bet. Skills good damage and speed.
Choice #2: Storm lash. Great smiting mods. If you cant afford silence get this. Black if the last alternative
Choice #3: Black runeword
choice #4 : Heavens light

Shield: Herald of zakarum shield. This is by far one of the better smiter shield and pretty cheap also.
Choice #2: Alma negra. Decent smite damage and mods.
Choice #3: Dragon scale. Very rare shield but seen to be pretty crappy. Very cheap
Choice #4: This next choice is ladder only! Any pally spirit will do. nice fhr (not that important) skills and resists.
Choice #5: Gris shield

Gloves: This is the most important piece of gear!!!!!!
Draculs grasp gloves!!!! Gives life tap which keeps you alive. Also gives decent strength and open wound mods.
If you cannot afford draculs im sorry this build just isnt going to work.

Belt: If you can afford this verdungoes is a really nice friend. Vitality, damge reduction.
Choice #2: String of ears. Damage reduction a few other mods...
Choice #3: Noferastus also works here.
Choice #4: Thunder gods vigor. Great mods and all around good belt.

Boots: Gore riders. Great mods decent defence.
Choice #2: Aldurs. Life resists second best choice here
Choice #3: Sanders folly
Choice #4 Just any boots with resistances will do.

Amulet: If you get silence phase blade use catseye amulet.
If you use black try to get highlords.
Other choices: Eye of elitch. Rising sun. Any old amulet with + pally skills or resistances.

Rings: Raven frost. Very cheap ring and can be easily mfed. Dex for silence and frozen mod. Use with both black or silence.
If you can get 2x raven frosts that would be great. Other alternatives are a low % bul kathos ring.
Other choices: Any old ring with resistances works here.

Inventory:
If you can afford get torch and a anni. If you cannot after killing ubers a few times hopefully you'll find a pally torch! Basically fill the inventory with resist charms or lifer charms. + to stat charms also work quite nicely.

Time to kill ubers
Step one: Have all 3 of your key sets. Terror, hate, destruction. Put one set in cube and press. You will get a portal go find either uber izaul, duriel, or lillith. Kill them get organ put in stash. STAY IN THE GAME!! Put the second set in your cube kill boss and get organ put in stash. Stay in the same game. Put in last key set kill the boss get organ. Now you should have a eye, brain, and horn.

Step two: With the organs in your cube. Walk to your inventory put on treachory and go to act 1 cold plains. Let the monsters hit you until your paladin looks ghostly.

Step three: Come back to act 5 and heal. Press transmute in cube and tada you have a ubers portal. Go in walk to the left and go around back. Walk in between the to furthest back houses then run bak really fast. If done correctly you should if brought only one of the ubers with you. Now run at him and start smiting. Your life tap should kick in then its just a waiting game.

If your fade runs out during any time that your not actively smiting. Go repeat the second step and get another fade.

Step four: After you have owned the first uber run in between the house and try to lure out another single boss. Own him and then repeat this steap to the las remaing boss.

Step five: After you have killed ubers there will be sohs and a torch laying on the ground. Pick them up go to cain. Id torch and be proud.

Conclusion
If you do make this character you will be very suprised at its abilities. If there is an uproar for screen shots to go with the steps i will gladly add them. If there is uproar to go with pvp i will nce again gladly add them, but i do warn you that this character may not do very well in pvp. If you do take this into a duel game and get killed several times don not let it kill your morale. This character is made for pvm purposes.

Once again im open to all comments and will answer all questions to my best ability.

Edit: Uber screen shots coming soon to go with the steps!!!

Yes there is, however vex is a fairly cheap rune. If your actually read the guide i reccomened black if you could not afford silence. Its not like i put 40/400 grief phase balde is your on weapon of choice.

Well, to restate what I said in my PM:
Add Shaftshop as an alternative armor, it is highly overlooked and has 30% DR.
Another overlooked item is the runeword "Honor (Amn + El + Ith + Tir + Sol)" which works in any 5 socket Melee weapon:
+160% Enhanced Damage
+9 To Minimum Damage
+9 To Maximum Damage
25% Deadly Strike
+1 to All Skills
Replenish Life +10
+10 To Strength
and some other mods that are not as useful

Honor is a very nice runeword rep but it lacks the speed that black and silence have.

True, but here's the Paladin Smite IAS Breakpoints:
8 Frames: 0 IAS
7 Frames: 18 IAS
6 Frames: 54 IAS
With only a level 20 Fanatacism, you get 35% IAS, and also, with the -30 Base IAS from Phase Blades (assuming you make Honor in this), you get an easy 75 IAS.

Nevertheless, a well planned and thought out guide that is affordable and strategically well planned out.

You mean Heaven's Light...and Rockstopper.

Btw, Gta, you made a spelling mistake ^^. Guardian, not gaurdian.

And you have to tell them to put on Treachery before going to Act 1 to get Fade, otherwise they might get killed without Fade triggering and they would be...wtf? Lol just a side note.

Silence requires a Vex rune and Ist, which is probably not low budget :\. And neither is HoZ...on West Ladder 160% goes for 1-2 high runes, and cost is higher as ED gets higher.

Otherwise a good guide. Just fix your spelling mistakes lol.

Nice guide. I think different people have different definitions of what is cheap and/or affordable. Personally I prefer kicksins for ubers but been wanting to build a smiter to try for fun, ty for the aid.

He has other cheap options up there for ladder players.
Life is too amusing not to smile.

Defenitely 100 percent wrong. While having draculs works very nicely and lets you stay smiting....a simple life tapwand can do the trick also.
The only useful mod they have would be the plus to strength. With my smiter I tested 75% open wounds and it doesn't really do anything great to the ubers that would make draculs that important.

oh yeah...and a sstormslash could be another cheap alternative weapon...in case they don't have the runes for those...specially silence.

My thoughts on low budget guides-
Low budget is exactly that....low budget. Something someone that has nothing could offord to make. If the total cost of your build is 4-5hr...yeah it is a cheap build...but its not low budget. Just my thoughts...nothing more.

Another thought...but this one is to ubering smiters in general-

Why do ppl suggest lifetap gear...then stress rez? When I first started building my smiter (note I do nottwink at all....well hardly ever), with -100 rez after mephs aura...and a dash of lifetap from my wand...my smiter stayed alive fine. Heres a thought...use some strategy when going at them...take meph first, or save him for last. Only well built chars played by experienced players should attempt to take them all at once (lol...if anyone's seen me do this its soooo funny). And yeah i said experienced players....anybody can get a GG char with GG gear off of ebay...but its also funny to watch them die when ehy can't smite anymore lol. You just gotta make sure you don't get burned (mana burned). People now a days are way too heavily reliant on gear to do the job for them.

note- GTA...none of my thoughts were directed to you...just my general feelings about low budget guides (since a couple have started springing up again) and ubering smiter guides (since the, too, have begun to resurface)
If you didn't read the whole post then don't bother responding.

I like this and may give it a run.

What are your thoughts on replacing the weapon with Heaven's Light and the shield with the Gris Shield?

Both of these are cheap and easy to get. The weapon gives good CB and the shield has reasonable resists

that combo will actually do more dmg than grief and exile....though it sacrifices speed.

GtA - Good build - I have made a similar smiter back near the beginning of ladder... So, if you plan on using this for even a little PvP I would recommend 1 point in Salvation. No pre-reqs, and it's just a faster way to smash uber-meph's face in PvM, as well as being a life-saver against Sorcs, FoH'ers, Auradins and a ton of others... Nice guide - I enjoyed it thoroughly.

REP - I was just wondering if the 54ias bp is the last one? Do you have a link to a reliable ias calculator?

Well, I used the only IAS Calculator out there to determine this.. I don't know of any others, it's the one in Dutch/English.

You can also put some shaels in the shield if need be. and ya like Cheddar said you will get very reasonable dmg with them. Gris shield has great dmg and heavens light has a reasonable amount of CB. Definitly a worthy alternative.
