What is a Dreamadin?
A Dreamadin takes advantage of the lvl 15 Holy Shock aura given by the Dream runeword. He will equip 2 Dreams, a helmet and a shield, b/c the auras stack to become a lvl 30 Holy Shock aura! Also synergies DO work with auras given by items! SKILLS 1 Zeal - You just need enough for 5 hits per Zeal. 20 Holy Shield - You will need to max this to save as many stat pts as you can. 20 Lit Res - Max to increase dmg of Holy Shock. 20 Salvation - Max to increase dmg of Holy Shock. 20 Conviction - The -150% enemy res increases your dmg a lot and -93% def makes it so you wont need AR, plus this aura helps a lot of other characters too. 19 Leftover points: Sacrifice - Put points here if you want some physical dmg with Zeal. Charge - If you want to duel put points here b/c it gives the biggest AR boost. Smite - If you want to duel you could also use this, just smite away while aura kills. Downside to smite is that the lit dmg added to your attacks (1 - 7k) isn't added to smite. STATS Strength - Enough for equip - You will probably need about 110 total str, not base. Dexterity - Enough for max block - I use Dream Sacred Rondache on my Pally and with maxed Holy Shield I need 152 total dex, not base, for max block on lv 85. Vitality - Rest. Energy - None. EQUIPMENT (The Equipment listed are some of the best pieces in the game, realize the only required pieces are the Dream helm and shield; as long as you have Dreams you'll be OK. They are in no particular order) Weapons (chose wep for mods, not dmg, your source of dmg is lit): Doom Zerk or Ettin - Good for Holy Freeze aura. Grief Phase Blade - Good dmg and really fast; Really consider this weapon if you are gonna be using Smite. EBotD Zerk - Good ole EbotD, what can I say? Beast Zerk or Ettin - Decent dmg, Fanatic aura, good wep if you wanna use conviction and still attack fast. Cresent Moon Phase Blade - Fast, -35% enemy lit res, casts Staic. Decent wep thats not expensive. Wep w/ High CB - Examples: Stormlash (casts Static too), Heaven's Light, Astreon's Iron Ward, "Black" Runeword Flail. This will help you deal with lit immunes; and is good for players who dont have access to expensive runeword weps. Wep Switch: CtA Crystal Sword or Double Axe (same req) - Battle Orders, more life and mana. Armor: CoH Dusk or Archon - Mainly for the huge 65 res bonus. Helmet: Dream Bone Visage or "Circlet" type - Required. Shield: Dream Sacred Targe/Rondache w/ Res - Required. Shield Switch: Spirit Shield - For the +2 skills, only if using CtA. Gloves: Dracul's Grasp - Life Tap, you're about invincible. Crafted Gloves w/ Ias and CB - Attacking faster and CB are always good things. Belt: Verdungo's Hearty Cord - Big life boost, DR, FHR; good all around belt. Boots: Tearhaunch - +2 Vigor and res. Goreriders - CB helps kills off guys in hell who are immune or still have good res even after u break. Jewelry: Ravenfrost Ring - Cannot Be Frozen. Must Have. Bul-Kathos Wedding Band Ring - +1 Skills, Life Leech, life boost. Rare Ring - Stats: life/mana leech, str, dex, res. Angelic Ring - If you are gonna duel and you need AR. Use with Angelic Ammy. Angelic Ammy - If you are gonna duel and you need AR. Use with Angelic Ring. Highlord's Wrath Ammy - +1 skills, Ias and lit res. Mara's Kaleidoscope Ammy - +2 skills, big res boost. MERC Act 1 Rogue ("Rich" Players) Equipment: Faith Crusader Bow - Gives lv 12 Fanatic aura, great ias and dmg boost, you dont need to wear Beast for fast attacks. Fortitude Dusk - Increases your merc dmg by 300%, gives her some res, and a nifty Frozen Armor on get hit. Andy's Visage - +2 Skills, ias, life leech and str; what else do u want? Note: I would socket with a Ral rune to negate the -30 fire res. Act 3 Cold (Poor"er" Players): Note: If you use Conviction this merc will greatly benefit from the -150 res. Equipment: Spirit Crystal Sword - +2 Skills and FCR (godly for the runes used). Spirit Monarch - +2 Skills, FCR, and res (again godly for the runes used). Nightwings - +2 Skills and +8-15% cold dmg, perfect for this guy. Note: You might need to socket with a P Ametysth for +10 str, for the Spirit Monarch. Cheap alt: Shako or Peasant Crown. CoH Dusk - +2 Skills, +65 res all, and +20 str (helps you to be able to equip Spirit Monarch), this is a great all around armor. Cheap alt: Skin of the Vipermagi or Que-Hagen's Wisdom. Both of these Mercs are great, pick one depending on your resources and style of play. Dreamadin -VS- Dragon-Disciple Dreamadin - Takes 2 high runes for Dreams. - The best cower for levelin chars from 20-24. - Armor slot free for CoH, where res comes from. - Weapon slot free for any wep you want. - Not many lit immunes, breaks immunity most of the time. - Awful dmg variation (1-7000 lit dmg). Dragon-Disciple - Takes 7 high runes for Dragons and HoJ. - Consistant dmg (3.5k-3.6k). - There are a lot of fire immunes, breaks immunity most of the time. - Helmet slot if free for CoA, which makes him better suited for dueling. - Res will have to come from charms. Equipment provides only 115 (CoA-30, Maras-30, Dragon Shield-45, Tearhaunch-10). _______________________________________________________ #2Posted 24 February 2005 - 09:22 PM

*EDIT: Everyone reading the comments below on this guide, please note that most of them on the first six pages were made when this build was only in a beta stage and was still being developed. Most of them are no longer relevant, but if you are interested they will provide some history on the finishing of this build. Enjoy the Dream Paladin! ~Ataneruo ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If this is a zealot THEN WHY ONLY 1 POINT IN ZEAL. Also, why max all those skills that you can't use at the same time anyways? At least pump synergies that are useful, like Holy Freeze instead of Light res. "...Not all those who wander are lost..."

zeal is his main attack thats y hes a zealot
u get +4 skills from items so u get 5 zeal attacks. u get lv 30 holy shock from dreams, max syns, lit res and salvation u get lv12 freeze from doom, max syns, cold res and salvation use conviction to lower res of enemies #4Posted 24 February 2005 - 09:44 PM
Then where do you get your AR? The dex and Raven won't be enough. You need more points in Zeal, at least 6 base to bring your total to 10.
Also, I am not convinced that synergies apply to a skill that has been granted from an item. In fact, I am positive that is not true. Therefore it does you absolutely zero good to max synergies to either Holy Shock or Holy Freeze. Better to put your points in Fanaticism in order to get a third Aura on top of HF and HS that will increase your attack speed. Do the two Dream runewords add together to make a lvl 30 Holy Shock? Or is it lvl 15 regardless of how many Dreams you are wearing? "...Not all those who wander are lost..."

conviction has -93% def so i wont need ar (pvm)
and yes synergies do apply to auras given from items, i have tested it with my dream helm thx for reply #6Posted 25 February 2005 - 01:39 PM
Hmm...I didn't realize that Conviction would help so much with defense reduction. That is great. Still, AR will suck against bosses though.
I'm really starting to like your build. I would sticky it but for one issue. From Arreat Summit:
Synergies Synergy bonuses are designed to boost the effectiveness of the higher-level skills based upon the number of points allocated to the lower-level (synergizing) skills. Players are rewarded for using skill points earlier rather than hoarding them all for later 'cookie-cutter' distribution to high-level skills. A skill that has a Synergy lists other skills that will help improve the skill you are looking at. This guide lists the bonuses as they are listed in the game so there won't always be complete information about what each Synergy does. [b]Items that give bonuses to skills and skill levels will not add to Synergy bonuses. For example, an Orb with +3 to Fireball, when equipped, does not give any bonus to Firebolt. Since you cannot get synergies from item skills, I find it difficult to believe that you can GIVE synergies to item skills. Can someone else corroborate matt's claim please. ive tested it in sp, posted it in his physical zealot page. it does add but not much, i feel it'd be best to max other skills.
but there is a flaw...u say u get a lvl 30 holy shock from the 2 dreams...which is not true...they do not stack, they take whichever is best and use that, since these are the same it will take the lvl 15 holy shock. u can see this in baal runs or wherever when there are 2 hammerdins in games that have concentration. their dmg doesnt increase because of aura stacking. it takes whichever is best. so the dream shield is useless. go with a zak, alma negra, or exile or u could wear dragon armor and wear dragonscale shield to help with the holy fire. #8Posted 25 February 2005 - 01:59 PM
It appears that The Sad One has corroborated this synergy effect. :o
Hmm...so synergies do apply. I think res light gives better synergy than res cold so it is a good idea to test out the synergies to Dream. Then you could put those 20 points in Res Cold to better use. Fanaticism anyone? :o :) "...Not all those who wander are lost..."

No, I didn't see it until after I posted.
Damn, and this build was starting to look so good. "...Not all those who wander are lost..."

kinda sounds like an avenger variant. although the multiple auras would be nice :) who knows i might try it.
at least its a new build. #12Posted 25 February 2005 - 02:07 PM
Right, it would be cool to have 3 elemental auras going at once: Holy Fire, Holy Shock and Holy Freeze. And with Conviction lowering monster res by 125% hehe
Add a Might merc and you are up to 5 auras. Sounds like fun :o Also, every single one of those Auras is an Offensive aura so with some Pally + to Offensive combat gcs this build would rock. Too bad Dragon armor really sucks. Maybe everything else on the build will make up for it. I think I'd go with a Dream helm, a Dragon shield, and a good armor like CoH or Fortitude. Otherwise go with Dragon armor and wear a HoZ. matt, if you edit this build to be a triple element Paladin build I will sticky it. "...Not all those who wander are lost..."
#13Posted 25 February 2005 - 02:35 PM
auras do stack btw, my freinds dream pally has 2 and it does stack
#14Posted 25 February 2005 - 02:41 PM
Ataneruo,
auras are not considered + to skill, so synergies do work with them. with a lv 30 shock (they DO stack i promise) and synergies dmg is around 1- 7k lit holy fire is too weak to put in the build even if u have 3 fire auras stacked with 2 dragons and a hoj = 46 fire aura i think, its still too weak. #15Posted 25 February 2005 - 02:51 PM
auras are not considered + to skill' date=' so synergies do work with them.[/quote']
I understand that now.
with a lvl 30 shock (they DO stack i promise) and synergies dmg is around 1- 7k lit
your promise isn't good enough. I need at least one other person who has tried it to corroborate, and I am not rich enough to do so myself.
holy fire is too weak to put in the build even if u have 3 fire auras stacked with 2 dragons and a hoj = 46 fire aura i think, its still too weak.
You're right but it still would be fun at little cost to the build. "...Not all those who wander are lost..."
#16Posted 25 February 2005 - 02:55 PM
i know my promise doesnt prove ne thing.
u could ask around on bnet about it, im sure someone can back my statements up. ill try to get some one to post thx for all of your replies #17Posted 25 February 2005 - 03:11 PM
alright well i got something sort of like this build im usin dream helm and shield, coh. and crescent moon (trying to get doom) and i maxed resist light, salvation, and conviction and it works great
and ya the dream does add around 1-7k damage and the aura is great at killing too #18Posted 25 February 2005 - 03:17 PM
if u take one of ur dreams off it reduces the dmg alot doesnt.
if so then thx for the 2nd confirmation of auras stackin. with one dream u should do about 1-2721 dmg with maxed syns with 2 dreams u should do about 1-7005 dmg with maxed syns thx for replying #19Posted 25 February 2005 - 03:20 PM
The only way to prove it is to open your skills tab when one of your Dreams is on and to see what the skill lvl is for Holy Shock. Then put your other Dream on and see if Holy Shock goes up by 15. A damage boost alone is not enough to prove anything.
"...Not all those who wander are lost..."

the auras given by items are not shown in ur skill tab (unlike +skill items), so the only way to prove is by dmg.
