What is a Dragon-Disciple?

A Dragon-Disciple takes advantage of the lvl 14 Holy Fire aura given by the Dragon runeword and the lvl 16 Holy Fire aura given by the Hand of Justice runeword. He will equip 2 Dragons, a body armor and a shield, and a Hand of Justice weapon b/c the auras stack to become a lv 44 Holy Fire aura! Also synergies work with auras given by items!

SKILLS

1 Zeal - (Use for PvM) You just need enough for 5 swings per Zeal.
20 Holy Shield - Max this to save as many stat pts as you can.
20 Fire Resist - Max to increase dmg of Holy Fire.
20 Salvation - Max to increase dmg of Holy Fire.
10-20 Conviction - Put as many pts needed to get this to Lv 25 for the huge -150 res.

Leftover Points:

Sacrifice - Put pts here if you pvm and want some physical dmg.
Charge - Max if your gonna duel alot with this char b/c it gives the biggest AR boost.

STATS

Strength - Enough for equip.
Dexterity** - Enough for max block - Sacred Rondache with maxed Holy Shield you will need 152 total dex, not base, for max block on lv 85.
Vitality - Rest.
Energy - None.

**I have found that it is also viable to put just enough Dex for equip and skimp out on block b/c you'll usually just run away from the enemy. This allows you to put more in Vit.

EQUIPMENT (The Equipment listed are some of the best pieces in the game, realize the only required pieces are the HoJ and Dragons, you might could even pull it off with two of them but not sure)

Weapons:

Hand of Justice Phase or Zerk** - For Lv 16 Holy Fire aura. If you are not going to use max block then i would suggest the Zerk so you wont waste pts in dex tryin to equip the Phase.

Wep Switch:

CtA Crystal Sword or Double Axe - Battle Orders, more life and mana.

Armor:

Dragon Dusk or Archon - For Lv 14 Holy Fire aura.

Helmet:

Crown of Ages VS Melee - "Ber Ber" for DR.
Kira's Guardian VS Casters - Great source of Resists.

Shield:

Dragon Sacred Targe/Rondache w/ Res - For Lv 14 Holy Fire aura.

Shield Switch:

Spirit Shield - For the +2 skills, only if using CtA.

Gloves:

Dracul's Grasp - PvM, Life Tap, you're about invincible.
Bloodfist - 30 FHR and 10 ias. Great for dueling.
Rare/Craft Gloves - Try to get some with res for fighting casters.

Belts:

Verdungo's Hearty Cord - Big life boost, DR, FHR; good all around belt.
Rare/Craft Belt - Try to get some with FHR and res mods, mainly for casters.

Boots:

Tearhaunch - +2 Vigor and res. Really consider these boots for res.
Sandstorm Trek - FHR, Str, Vit, and Poison Resist. Good for dueling.
Rare/Crafted - Look for Resists for casters.
Goreriders - (PvM) CB helps kills off guys in hell who are immune or still have good res even after you break.

Jewelry:

Ravenfrost Ring - Cannot Be Frozen. Must Have.
Bul-Kathos Wedding Band Ring - +1 Skills, Life Leech, life boost.
Angelic Ammy/Ring - When you duel and pulse doesnt kill, you'll need AR. Use with Angelic Ammy.
Mara's Kaleidoscope Ammy - +2 skills and res. Must have b/c of low res.

Charms:

Annihilus - Mainly for Resists.
Hellfire Torch - Mainly for Resists, but a Pally one would be great.
Res Charms - You will be lacking res, so these are a must for dueling elemental casters.
Offensive GC - You might need a few to get a lv 25 Conviction.

Other Mods to Look for - AR, FHR, Life.

PvP & PvM STRATEGY

Run around until everything dies.

Dreamadin -VS- Dragon-Disciple

Dreamadin

- Takes 2 high runes for Dreams.
- Awful dmg variation (1-7000 lit dmg).
- Not many lit immunes, breaks immunity most of the time.
- Armor slot free for CoH, where res comes from.
- Weapon slot free for any wep you want, lotta mods to choose from.
- The best cower for levelin chars from 20-24.

Dragon-Disciple

- Takes 7 high runes for Dragons and HoJ.
- Consistent dmg (3.5k-3.6k).
- There are a lot of fire immunes, breaks immunity most of the time.
- Helmet slot free for CoA, which makes him better suited for dueling.
- Res will have to come from charms. Equipment provides only 115 (CoA-30, Maras-30, Dragon Shield-45, Tearhaunch-10).

-enemy fire resists on merc gear does not affect your gear or auras that u have equipped
are u sure that synergies will work cause im pretty sure they wont
yes they do work, but only when the aura is granted by items in this case the holy fire synergies add damage to the holy fire aura that is granted by the items.
EQUIPMENT (The Equipment listed are some of the best pieces in the game' date=' realize the only required pieces are the Dream helm and shield; as long as you have Dreams you'll be OK. They are in no particular order)[/quote']

i think you need to edit this a bit, this guide is for dragon/Hoj pally not dream

id love to make this pally, but im very poor on ladder.

if i were you or some1 else, instead of maxing conviction, max out holyfire and have it on for lvl 64 H-Fire or max out holy freeze or shock for those pesky imunes in hell. i dont really see conviction helping you much in hell. oh and an act2 nm merc with might will also help out with damage. other then that, nice guide

Still pimpin,
fire

LOL i forgot to edit a part. (stupid)

IliaFire

your active aura and auras given by items dont stack, so no lv 64 holy fire. Conviction gives -150 to all enemy res it breaks almost all fire immunes (how does that not help in hell???) This is mostly a dueler neway but would be decent in pvm

not to mention lowering enemy defense which lets u hit them more often if u zeal or charge

Hey ppl,

I updated the guide. Here are the changes:

Corrected error of misreading dragon runeword to think it had DR 7% when it really has DR, which means put "ber ber" in CoA.

Added some minor equip recommendations.

Nice, it kinda outdid my guide I guess. :(

VoilĂ ! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

Everything a guide should be, and really interesting besides. Particularly good was the comparison chart to the dual dream pally.

I'm lovin' it. :)

Thx for the compliments guys. I would say that my guides are on par with GSC's guides, however, he has made a whole lot more guides than ne1 in the forum, so he is still king :D

dueling section?

all u do is run around and they die lol

if its taking too long just charge them

oh and btw i didnt say dragon/hoj is better than dreams, dragon/hoj is better at dueling, and dream for pvm but dream is "ok" pvp. imo just the price difference makes dreams better. :D

a dream helm isnt worth it imo, b/c it only adds 1-1000 dmg to atks and pulse is only 1-200. CoA is necessary for the DR, Res, and FHR.

i have distributed all points as suggested and all though all i have is the armor i was able to kill hell baal alone without ever nearing death. iwas using 2 minor life leach rings 5%,3%, vampire gaze6%, heavens light, nosferotu's6%, hoz, bloodfist and tearhaunch. I can't wait to finish this kickass build.

i made this build and i didnt find that it was as fun as the dream pally. Also as matt said dream is sooooo much less expensive. Bnet seems to have "dumbed down" fire damage... cause they're silly bean heads. But hey what are ya gonna do? BEWARE: THIS BUILD = LOTS OF HIGH RUNES and then you cant trade the items for crap... (happen to me) But! :D it was fun while it lasted. lol once again for the 3rd time i thought i was being original and Matt posted a fire guide! ARRRR oh well ;) build wasnt that great anyway

man you should see how this build lays down cows -haven't tried hell cows yet -. way better than my c/s zon or my frostadin, all you have to do is run and let the aura's do the work! I of course know the hell cows will be more difficult but with the -150 resist ,-94def (lvl29 with offense gc's, i know,i know overkill ). my party members will make up the difference in damage.
what should i socket in a 1 soc coa for this build. i don't won't to waste a ber in a 1 soc , btw i'm on U.S. west ladder so none of those godly nonladder gems avaible

pyrus,

sry i havent checked this guide lately. it might be too late for my advice on the 1soc CoA but here are some options:

Um or Res Jewel - decent ull need res

Ias jewel - attackin faster is always good

shael - fhr for duels

fire facet - up ur fire dmg

res/ias jewel - the best imo

sry again for the late post. hope that helped.

heh. Have you noticed how detailed GSC's guides are? How they include comprehensive dueling strategies as well as tidbits for both newbs and advanced players? You have very original builds and well-written guides matt, but you are not in GSC's league yet...
